How to play
- Fill the grid with 1 to 5 so each row and column has no repeats.
- The numbers in each bold cage must combine to its target using the small operation shown.
- A cage with a target and no sign is a single given number.
Tips for solving it
None of these give anything away — they are just how people who do these all the time get unstuck.
- Start with the one-square cages - those are given digits in disguise.
- Learn the forced cages: a two-square cage with a large sum or a large product has very few options.
- A cage never repeats a digit within a row or column, which cuts the option list fast.
- Write each cage’s possible digit sets in the margin, then cross them off as rows fill.
- The sum tells you which digits are in the cage, not where. Placement comes from the row and column rules.
